    Night Vision Binoculars

For night spying or security purposes at night, night vision binoculars are far better than flashlights or spotlights even on a moonless night. Night vision binoculars feature digital controls and an internal infrared illuminator that allows the viewer to have excellent clarity even in total darkness.

Types of night vision devices - binoculars
Night vision devices, including night vision binoculars, are categorized into three generations. The first generation of night vision devices is the most popular today. They are capable of magnifying a stray of light for thousands of times.

The second generation is the one used chiefly for law enforcement or professional purposes. In a second generation unit, a micro-channel plate (MCP) placed behind the photocathode amplifies electrons, which in return can amplify light more times than the first generation units. The third generation units contain the chemical gallium arsenide to the photocathode. They are able to provide moderate to excellent performance in low light.

    Night vision binoculars models
The Steiner Nighthunter 8x56 binocular features a combination of 56mm objective lenses and 8 times magnification power. Typically, night vision binoculars such as this require wide lenses to be apt in low light settings. Good for venturing or hunting at night or pre-dawn. This model has an individual eye focus type and a near focusing distance of 60 feet. Price range: $800 - $870.

In the line of Steiner Nighthunters is the 7x50 Binocular. This model provides stable and steady performance even when viewing in the darkness. It's also military specified tough and waterproof. Provides 7 times magnification and features an individual eye focus and 375 ft. at 1000 yards. Price range is $699.00 from three vendors.

The Leica Geovid 8x56 Binoculars are night vision binoculars that are ideal for night hunting as well. The wide 56mm objective lenses diameter and the night vision feature can amplify light thousands of times. Its wide 354 ft. at 1000 yards field of view gives you a wide area of view. This model, though, is not constructed to be waterproof and has no tripod adapter. Price from one vendor is $2,445.00.

Another example is from manufacturer ATN and their Night Scout Night Vision Binoculars under the first generation night vision devices. This model can amplify light 35,000 maximum, with 5 times magnification power and extraordinary wide 90mm objective lenses. ATN claims this model can cut through the dark with the aid of an infrared illuminator. Its power supply is a 2x3-volt lithium with a battery life of 10-20 hours. Regular price is $599.00 but sold in one vendor at the sale price $469.00.
